Native to South America, Passiflora coccinea has beautiful, huge, intense red blooms up to 5 inches across that are followed by orange mottled passion fruit that is entirely edible. This showy vine has evergreen foliage with red-purple stems and is hardy to zones 9-11. 'Red Star' begins blooming in early summer and continues till frost on a vine that grows to 12 feet with a spread of 5 feet. These gorgeous red blooms are attractive to butterflys and hummingbirds.
