Musa Sikkimensis was found in the Darjeeling and Sikkem Himalayan region of northern India at altitudes of 4000 to 7000 feet and light snow. This is a vigorous grower to 14 feet.  Leaves have purple undersides with new growth having purple variegation. This banana produces 5-6 inch fruit with a sweet flavor.  Mulching has proved Musa Sikkimensis to be hardy to zone 7.
